For over sixty years, the Festival de la Saint Loup in Guingamp has brought people together to celebrate the vibrant culture of Brittany through traditional music and dance. This year's event will take place from August 16th through August 20th and is sure to be bigger than ever—over 2500 ringers, performers, and dancers are expected! Since 1957, the Festival de la Saint Loup has been home to the national championship of Breton dance hosted by the Kendalc'h confederation. To commemorate and honor this special event, the Kendalc'h committee and the music event committee decided to create a modern iteration of the musical bash taking place in mid-August over two days: parade on Saturday night and dance on Sunday. The first year saw much success as almost 30 thousand people came out for performances from thirty circles and bagadoù that showcased traditional heritage in all its glory.
Every year, the celebration of Breton culture grows a little bit more. Nowadays, there are nearly 2,500 players, artists, and dancers from all parts of the Celtic world (Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Asturian, Galician, etc.) visiting Trégor. Several events, such as exhibitions and fest-noz, occur throughout the week, along with traditional dance competitions every evening, culminating in concerts that bring it home!
