For over three decades, the Festival Orgel PLUS has delighted audiences with its unique blend of musical performance and artistry. Founded in 1989 by Gerd-Heinz Stevens, this breathtaking festival is held annually under the patronage of Bishop Essen at various venues throughout Bottrop. Bringing together a multitude of instruments with film screenings, captivating dance performances, and visual arts exhibitions – each edition promises an unforgettable experience!
As part of the concerts, guests were able to witness various premieres from composers such as Jürg Baur, Sir Malcolm Arnold, and Harald Genzmer. Not only that but also long-forgotten works for organ and orchestra, along with oratorio pieces! In addition to hearing some of Europe's most renowned organists during performances, there are excursions available for everyone: master classes for those interested in furthering their knowledge about music composition and theory, exhibitions that showcase a vast array of instruments used within classical music throughout history (including organs), and even events specifically curated towards entertaining children!
