Created by Terrance Gough, the Download Festival is a world-renowned annual Rock festival held in multiple locations across England, France, and Australia. Since 2003 it has been hosted at Donington Park motorsport circuit in Leicestershire; since 2016, Paris has provided an additional venue for those seeking to attend, while Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne (2018) and Parramatta Park Sydney (2019) have added further excitement with their recent inclusion.

In 2022, Download Germany Festival made its stunning debut at the Hockenheimring! With this festival came a clear announcement to hard 'n' heavy music fans everywhere: Prepare yourselves for the most outstanding music experience you've ever seen!
Download Germany Festival was proud to provide metal music buffs with a new space in the famous Motodrom at Hockenheimring. To kick off this event, Live Nation secured one of the greatest rock bands as headliners: METALLICA! The festival was their only German gig in 2022 and was exclusive to Download Germany in celebration of their newly-remastered Black Album.
The first edition of Download Germany was incredible, with British punk rockers Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and post-hardcore heavyweights Holding Absence added to the line-up alongside Poorstacy and Ghostkid - cross-over phenomena in their own right. Metallic leaded this incredible program at Hockenheimring that had previously been joined by Five Finger Death Punch, Sabaton, and Behemoth, creating an intense mix guaranteed to keep festivalgoers on their feet!
