Imagine the quintessential Lower Bavarian village, tranquil and peaceful. That's Weigendorf—well, at least it is from Monday through Saturday. On the third weekend in July each year, however, it isn't quite so serene as a miniature Woodstock overtakes the village with Open Air Weigendorf!
It all began in 1979 when two tractor-trailers were haphazardly placed on the sunbathing lawn of the Weigendorf outdoor pool, thus creating an improvised stage. As time passed by and more people started attending this event, it became a classic fixture in the festival landscape, with over 4000 visitors. The move to larger areas finally culminated in 2013, where Open Air Weigendorf is now set up at an ideal site that offers nothing but admirable music and quality fun experiences for attendees.
At the start, the Open Air Weigendorf lineup consisted of regional and pals' bands. But eventually, the organizer could foot the bill for renowned national and global acts. Nowadays, performers hail from all parts of Germany and Europe—a fact that fills them with pride! Whisk yourself away to a whole new realm when you stand before Open Air Weigendorf's alluring stage as it enchants your senses with its vibrant music.
