On August 14, 2004, the Tells Bells Festival was staged for the first time. It began as a single-day event and saw its initial bands taking to the stage late on Saturday. The idea behind creating this festival came from Villmar Kult eV – an association established by young people of Villmar and neighboring areas two years prior – who were looking for alternatives beyond mainstream commercial activities to provide entertaining experiences for their peers at night.
Moreover, local bands and artists should be allowed to showcase their skills on the Tells Bells stage. During a friendly gathering of its founding members - with beer and Äppelwoi, of course – it only seemed fitting that this festival would be named "Tells Bells." Since 2004, the festival has wanted to provide festival-goers with an array of musical genres. From hardcore and punk rock to ska, metal, and alternative—even international artists like Evolution So Far from Italy! This festival will showcase local, national, and international acts at the first Tells Bells event; it was a memorable experience that has become renowned in music history.
For years, Tells Bells has upheld a consistent model of offering accessible drinks and ticket prices. Moreover, it is a delight to have experienced exponential growth in the festival's fan base! Anyone who attended one of the events can attest that it was always an incredible time filled with extraordinary festival experiences!
