A Mega Piraten Festijn (MPF) is an unforgettable evening filled with music, laughter, and fun! The Mega Piraten Festijn, the precursor of today's festivals, was established by illegal radio stations (more commonly known as pirate stations) broadcasting music related to Dutch culture.
The inaugural Mega Piraten Festijn took place in April 2004, and it blew up in Lemelerveld to an overwhelming response - it sold out within hours. Consequently, this event organized a second party for October of that same year in Nieuwleusen. Then 2005 arrived, with it, four additional locations: Balkbrug and Borger also saw their parties. In 2007, western parts of the Netherlands joined the festivities too! In May 2008, Volendam hosted what is still recognized as one of its most significant events yet; 2009 marked another milestone when Amsterdam welcomed its first-ever festival experience from this series. Besides regular episodes throughout each year, Giga Pirate Festival has become an annual tradition every fourth week in December at GelreDome Stadium.
