FESTIVALS MIDDELSTUM 2023

Established in 1988, Sunsation Middlestum has blossomed into one of the biggest soirees in Northern Netherlands. One of the oldest recurring Dance Events is at this annual music festival in Middelstum - a village near Groningen. With acclaimed names such as Michel de Hey, DJ Jean, and Paul Elstak present throughout its history, today's superstars like Hardwell, Don Diablo, and Brennan Heart have graced this festival year after year. It is no wonder why The Dance Event continues to be an enormous draw card for all attendees.

Since the 1990s, Middelstum has seen an influx of popular Dutch bands, such as Golden Earring (who visited 11 times!), Anouk, Bløf, Krezip, Within Temptation, Racoon, and Rowwen Hèze. In 2003 Sunsation added a second stage to the festival site, which expanded its offerings even further. From 2008 onwards, Sunsation has been dedicated solely to Dutch music, with DJ Roy spinning tunes; Gerard Joling, André Hazes jr, and Snollebollekes all being part of the festivities at 'The Dutch Evening.' Local stars Burdy Pieter van der Zweep en Bert Zwier also make regular appearances at this grand celebration.

In 2023, on Friday, March 24th, the 34th edition of Sunsation Middelstum kicks off with a live performance from Sunsation, followed by the Climate Group Hollandse Evening on Saturday. The following weekend is sure to be just as exciting when it begins with Back to the 90s & 00s and culminates in an unforgettable dance event on April 1st!
