Appelpop, held in the city of Tiel during the second weekend of September and a week before Fruitcorso, is one of the Netherlands' largest free festivals. It boasts an illustrious history: beginning as a small festival with just a few hundred attendees in 1991 and growing to over 180,000 visitors in 2008! This two-day pop fest has become the most significant free event lasting more than one day in the country.
Since its inception, the Appelpop festival has welcomed many Dutch bands. Notable artists such as Anouk, Bløf, Krezip, and Within Temptation have all performed multiple times during this event.
For the past three decades, the Appelpop festival has been the grand finale of the festival season! This year marks their 30th anniversary, and the celebration takes place on September 8th & 9th.
