As its name suggests, the Unity Christian Music Festival is a religious music festival that takes place over four days in August at Heritage Landing in Muskegon, Michigan.
The purpose of Unity, which started in 2001, is to unite Christians for public praise, worship, and fellowship. It also aims to offer a wholesome, family-centered entertainment alternative and help Christian ministries by raising funds and recruiting volunteers. The festival is organized by Alive on the Lakeshore, a group of local Christian volunteers who want to provide entertainment that reflects Christ's values for families in West Michigan. Every year, the festival involves 700 volunteers and is a part of the Christian Festival Association.
At Unity, the attendance varies from 9,000 on Thursday to more than 20,000 on Saturday. Some of the artists who have performed at Unity are Relient K, Hawk Nelson, Anointed, Steven Curtis Chapman, Geoff Moore, Petra, Chris Rice, Phil Keaggy, Mark Schultz, Jars of Clay, tobyMac, The Newsboys, 4th Point, Chris Tomlin, and Michael W. Smith.
