Ready for a unique experience? The Parrtjima – A Festival in Light is an extraordinary 10-night event eagerly awaited by Red Centre locals and visitors alike. It is the world's only Aboriginal light festival, where traditional culture meets modern technology to create beautiful displays of artistry! Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity - join the celebration of the oldest civilizations with cutting-edge creativity!

For the third consecutive year, Parrtjima will be held in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) in Arrernte from 7-16 April 2023. Its theme for this upcoming event is Listening with Heart. This concept came to life due to artwork that reflects a powerful statement of unification - coming together, making contact with each other, and finding the time for thoughtful reflection.

Maruku artist Rene Kulitja is at the helm of a team of gifted artists from Multijulu who have set out to create an awe-inspiring visual and sound installation known as 'Statement from The Heart.' This artwork will depict Uluru-Ku Tjukurrpa - the story that connects you all. To bring this magnificent piece of art to life, Rene has invited many talented artists whose skills far exceeded expectations in creating something so beautiful. As the center point for Parrtjima 2023, visitors can look forward to being immersed in a world filled with culture and history that only Aṉangu people living on APY Lands surrounding Uluru can provide.

As they explore the installation, visitors will gain an understanding of traditional songlines and Indigenous perspectives on the creation of the country - learning to connect while tuning into Aboriginal people's strong connection with the land, water, and sky.

The Northern Territory Government and the Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) have come together to deliver Parrtjima, a spectacular event produced by Creative Directors AGB Events. Listening with Heart is essential to the event, as it encourages people to gather in the country and gain knowledge about Aboriginal culture. Curator Rhoda Roberts AO leads this experience for all those involved.

NTMEC has partnered with Travel Associates to bring Parrtjima visitors the best experiences in Red Centre. These packages offer an exclusive preview night, a painting tour of Hermannsburg Historic Precinct, nocturnal encounters at Alice Springs Desert Park, and insight into bush foods on the Merne Tour. These packages, combining festival highlights and some of the region's most iconic tourism offerings, are designed to give you an unforgettable experience that will stay with you long after your visit.
