Since the mid-twentieth century, the economy of Cruz del Eje has been closely tied to olive production and oil extraction. To showcase their industry, the city created Fiesta Nacional del Olivo, a celebration dedicated to promoting olives, accompanied by folkloric music and artistry that culminates in electing a National Queen of Olive Trees. Every year, the Fiesta Nacional Del Olivo takes place in Córdoba, Argentina. Since 1954, generations have gathered at Cruz del Eje to celebrate this traditional festival that is dedicated to promoting local olive production and fostering music and artistry. Furthermore, it features a spectacular pageant where one lucky woman is crowned Queen of the Olive Tree!
