Every March in Austin, Texas, South by Southwest (SXSW) takes place as an incomparable combination of film festivals, interactive media events, and music conferences. With a single event pass granting access to the entire gathering of activities, SXSW provides unprecedented opportunities for those interested in multimedia entertainment.In 1987, South by Southwest, Inc. saw an opportunity to promote Austin's diverse music scene, and thus the inaugural South by Southwest (SXSW) Music and Media Conference was born. Professionals in the industry were welcomed with open arms as 700 people attended this inaugural event!The festival's popularity skyrocketed over the years and garnered international recognition. Organizers estimated that in 2010, more than 12,000 attendees were captivated by 2,000 musical acts on 80+ stages!During the musical portion of the festival, lasting five days, there are meetings and panel discussions regarding independent labels, technology advancements in music production, copyright law information for artists, and promotional techniques to help them succeed.

SXSW: South by Southwest

For thirty-eight glorious years, the Orkney Folk Festival has been a beacon of light across Scotland, the UK, and beyond. Just over a dozen individuals in total make up this volunteer committee. Still, their sheer dedication brings together such an incredible event every May, with many more joining them to offer assistance during those crucial weeks leading up to the festival. Since its inception in 1982, networking between artists and the audience has always been at the forefront of what this special occasion is all about; ultimately creating an atmosphere that provides something unique for everybody involved. Rewind back to the early eighties; Orkney was facing a downturn in both tourism and traditional music. Tourist numbers were diminishing, leading to an urgent need for increased visitor traffic during months such as late spring that had previously been quiet so the industry could become more viable. Also, folk music had fallen out of fashion among younger generations. Therefore, it was essential for change to take place for these industries to survive and flourish again. The first festival laid the foundation for what has now become a highly-anticipated event amongst artists worldwide. It is primarily the homegrown Orcadian acts that make this festival unique and keeps attendees coming back time after time. This balance between local talent and visiting performers remains one of the most critical components to ensuring its continued success today. Each year, more and more people flock to Stromness and the isles for the festival. It's an atmosphere of music, warmth, and camaraderie; many return yearly! Musicians worldwide join in on their instruments as dancers gracefully move around them. But not everyone at this gathering is a performer; there are plenty of others who come to bask in its festive spirit too! May 25–28, 2023, will mark the 40th Orkney Folk Festival! Get ready to hear music from around the globe as 24 talented acts perform on stage. You really do not want to miss out on a night of superb entertainment from artists based in America and Canada to Scandinavia and Ireland—not forgetting the Orcadian talent returning home for this spectacular anniversary event. For over sixty years, the Festival de la Saint Loup in Guingamp has brought people together to celebrate the vibrant culture of Brittany through traditional music and dance. This year's event will take place from August 16th through August 20th and is sure to be bigger than ever—over 2500 ringers, performers, and dancers are expected! Come experience "Gouel Sant-Loup ha dañs Breizh" for yourself—an unmissable opportunity to immerse yourself in Brittany's unique history and heritage. Since 1957, the Festival de la Saint Loup has been home to the national championship of Breton dance hosted by the Kendalc'h confederation. To commemorate and honor this special event, the Kendalc'h committee and the music event committee decided to create a modern iteration of the musical bash taking place in mid-August over two days: parade on Saturday night and dance on Sunday. The first year saw much success as almost 30 thousand people came out for performances from thirty circles and bagadoù that showcased traditional heritage in all its glory. Every year, the celebration of Breton culture grows a little bit more. Nowadays, there are nearly 2,500 players, artists, and dancers from all parts of the Celtic world (Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Asturian, Galician, etc.) visiting Trégor. Several events, such as exhibitions and fest-noz, occur throughout the week, along with traditional dance competitions every evening, culminating in concerts that bring it home!
