The Westerpop festival, a free occasion held in Delft, first began back in 1989 as part of the 100th-anniversary celebration of the Westerkwartier district. The budget was set at ƒ 5500,- and included a trailer stage, light and sound equipment, and nine bands over two days, all leading up to an estimated 900 attendees. With this humble beginning, what started as merely another event has become one of Delft's most popular festivals! Initially, just a neighborhood party, Westerpop has grown over the years to become an incredibly successful pop festival. Thanks to countless volunteers and generous sponsors, it now draws in thousands of enthusiastic visitors from near and far, as well as some of the biggest names in music! Hundreds of volunteers have been integral in making this event what it is today: reshaping regional culture with national fame. The visitors now come from far away to visit this extremely friendly festival. The free pop festival in Delft is back on July 7 and 8, 2023, for the 30th edition! With countless activities and attractions, this festival is a must-see event for any music lover. From outstanding performances to thrilling spectacles, you'll never be short of something exciting to do or see!
