Bevrijdingsfestival Groningen has been taking place in the Stadspark since 2001. The direct translation of the festival's name is Liberation Festival. As the name suggests, the festival is meant to celebrate the birth of the Netherlands.Situated at Drafbaan Groningen, Bevrijdingsfestival Groningen becomes one of many hot spots for the people of the Netherlands to commemorate and celebrate their liberation day on May 5. And that will be no different for 2023!

Liberation Day on May 5th, 2023, will be commemorated with Bevrijdingspop in Haarlem's Haarlemmerhout. This celebration of freedom is one of the oldest festivals and is organized mostly by volunteers as a project of the Bevrijdingspop Foundation. Music and other cultural aspects are highlighted throughout this event to showcase how liberation can be celebrated joyously, with an emphasis each year given to a relevant theme.Following dissatisfaction amongst the younger generation concerning traditional May 5th celebrations, Bevrijdingspop was established in 1980. Over time, it has evolved into a well-respected professional festival complete with multiple music venues and stages, an expansive market area, and various refreshment providers, thus making Bevrijdingspop Haarlem a household name.Each year, Bevrijdingspop gives 140,000 attendees a memorable experience with its abundance of contemporary pop music, alternative music, street theatre, and children's entertainment. With various stages, such as the T Mobile Podium, which serves as the main stage, get in touch with trendsetting acts at Jupiler Podium or support local talent on Freedom Square, and Hero Children's Centers Stage offers an especially appealing program for kids.In addition to its musical programming, the core of Bevrijdingspop is freedom.
