Aldrei fór ég suður or I Never Went South in English, is a beloved Icelandic music festival held annually during Easter weekend in Ísafjörður. This festival started as a single-night event in 2004 and has since grown to two full days of festivity and fun! Simultaneously running alongside Skíðavikan (or Skiweek), this winter activity celebration features various skiing and cultural events for all ages to enjoy.
Aldrei fór ég suður is the collaborative effort of Mugison and his father, Guðmundur Kristjánsson, born from a performance at an event in London in 2003. This festival pays homage to the iconic song by Bubbi Morthens, making it its namesake. Moreover, there has never been any fee or payment for bands performing here - this place exists purely out of passion and admiration for music.
On April 7th and 8th, 2023, Aldrei fór ég suður is back to wow audiences again with its trademark excitement and entertainment! After a string of highly successful events in previous years, this edition promises to exceed all expectations. Get ready for an incredible experience!
