Established in 1994, the Bayreuther Osterfestival is a charitable Easter Festival held at Bayreuth in Germany. The festival's three primary goals are fundraising for cancer charities, providing young musicians an opportunity to gain experience, and emphasizing the importance of global understanding. This mission is fulfilled through its association with the International Youth Orchestra Academy.
Curated by Prof. Dr. Ulrich S. Schubert and Dr. Andreas Göldel in collaboration with director Prof. August Everding and Australian conductor Sir Charles Mackerras, the Bayreuther Osterfestival takes place at Easter each year- highlighting charity concerts that aim to support children who have cancer. This annual event first started as symphonic concerts hosted by the Internationale Junge Orchesterakademie. However, it has since expanded its repertoire to include a range of genres: from symphony and chamber orchestra performances to organ music, festival brass pieces, jazz numbers, and salon-orchestra tunes!
For the first time in 2007, opera was included in the festival's repertoire with Antonio Salieri's "Prima la musica e poi le parole." Christoph Ulrich Meier led the musical direction and conducting of this production. The operatic performance and a series of symphonic concerts by Bob Ross have been held at Margravial Opera House, Bayreuth (Germany).
