Bergenfest was created in 1993, initially known as OleBlues. Intended to be a small-scale blues and Americana festival held at different locations across Bergen city center, it has since grown into one of Norway's most beloved festivals.
Bergenfest has expanded through the years to become one of Norway's most renowned music events, boasting a wide-ranging musical selection and an ever-growing audience. In 2012, it shifted from indoors to outdoors at Bergenhus Fortress - its scenic setting exuded both history and beauty.
Bergenfest at the majestic Bergenhus Fortress can accommodate up to 9,000 guests daily. The festivities are spread across two outdoor stages: Plenen and Bastionen. Additionally, Magic Mirrors has a capacity of 600 people with its art nouveau-inspired mirror tent, while Håkonshallen provides 400 additional seats in its medieval ballroom for concerts.
