The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal holds a remarkable distinction — it has the 2004 Guinness World Record as the planet's largest jazz festival. Over 3,000 performers from around 30 countries come together each year to entertain and mesmerize their audiences with more than 650 concerts (450 of which are free outdoor performances). No wonder 2 million individuals, including 12.5% tourists and 300 accredited journalists, attend this event annually! The festival features 20 stages throughout Montreal that range from accessible outdoor venues to indoor concert halls.
For ten days, the city's downtown core transforms into an outdoor extravaganza for all to enjoy! Free shows are held on multiple stages from noon until midnight and attract crowds of up to 200,000 people. Past "Big Event concerts" have brought together anywhere between 100-150K attendees.
From cozy jazz clubs to grandiose concert halls like Place des Arts, there is no limit to where a show can take place. Many outdoor shows are on closed-off streets, while others are in picturesque parks with terraced lawns.
From June 29 to July 8, the 43rd iteration of Festival International de Jazz de Montréal 2023 will take place in the Quartier des spectacles.
