Every year, Festival FOCUS Wales gathers international musicians and artists in Wrexham to celebrate the art of emerging talent. Since its launch in 2010, this beloved Welsh music festival has grown into a multi-venue extravaganza that includes film screenings and conference events. Annually, the festival captivates hundreds of attendees with more than 250 performances from international performers. Additionally, organizers consistently travel throughout Canada, South Korea, and Taiwan to host conferences and showcases - all to advertise the event's high-caliber artists.
The 2022 edition of Wales' most significant music industry gathering was a resounding success, with around 400 distinguished professionals in attendance and an array of performances, advice sessions, panels, keynote talks, and Welsh language events. All activities took place at the Centre for Creative Industries - including some exclusive concerts within St Giles Church! It is undoubtedly one of Wales's most memorable musical gatherings.
In 2022, the 300 performances of this event mainly happened in Wrexham city center at popular venues such as Tŷ Pawb, St Giles' Church, Llwyn Isaf, and more. The Centre for Creative Industries at Wrexham Glyndŵr University and Hafod Theatre from Coleg Cambria's Yale Campus further contributed to these spectacular events. According to the event organizers, it has successfully added a whopping £500k to the local economy!
With an enormous variety of performers, the event has featured acclaimed Welsh and International artists such as 9Bach, Snapped Ankles, Boy Azooga, Cate Le Bon, Tim Burgess BC Camplight Damo Suzuki (CAN), The Trials of Cato, Euros Childs, Charlotte Church, Gaz Coombes, Neck Deep, Stella Donnelly, The Lovely Eggs. There were also Catrin Finch, The Joy Formidable, A Guy Called Gerald, Gwenno, Richard Hawley, Michael Rother, Don Letts, The Membranes, Bo Ningen, The Magic Numbers, Kelly Lee Owens, Sea Power, Gruff Rhys, Kate Rusby, Georgia Ruth and many more.
As Festival FOCUS Wales 2023 marks its 12th edition, more than 15,000 fans and 250 artists will gather at Wrexham for the most significant festival ever! With over 20 stages in 2022 breaking records, next year's event expects to attract even more people.
