Once a year, people from all around the world come together and celebrate The Festival of Colours. Inspired by Holi, an ancient Hindu tradition that marks the coming of spring in March, this occasion involves throwing carefully mixed gulal (Hindi) or rang (Nepali), which are finely ground pigments made into powder paint.
On this day, everyone is equal - caste differences and gender roles disappear as humans relish togetherness with friends and family alike! Although primarily celebrated in India & Nepal, other countries with significant Hindu populations also join in on these festivities for a joyous celebration.
On June 29th, 2012, Holi Festivals of Colour first came to Europe with a spectacular event in Berlin at the Postbahnhof. Despite free tickets sold, attendance was lower than expected due to some guests receiving incorrect information from organizers. Unfortunately, many attendees only got to experience a little of Holi's symbolism and customs during this inaugural festival.
In 2012, three additional Festivals Of Colour took place in Munich, Hannover, and Dresden. The largest was Munchen's event which saw a turnout of 10,000 guests! Holi Festival of Colours Munchen immersed attendees into an explosion of exciting colors while also allowing them to enjoy open-air dance music. This festival stands out for its lively ambiance that celebrates fun and inclusion for everyone!
As part of a wide-reaching event series in Europe, this festival is the destination for a fantastic celebration in Bavaria. There's something here for everyone to enjoy - DJs and dancers, extravagant production design, and a selection of engaging activities like color powder paint parties! Not only that, but it'll also bring some serious fun with feel-good house music throughout the day, keeping all attendees smiling from ear to ear.
