Once a year, people from all around the world come together and celebrate The Festival of Colours. Inspired by Holi, an ancient Hindu tradition that marks the coming of spring in March, this occasion involves throwing carefully mixed gulal (Hindi) or rang (Nepali), which are finely ground pigments made into powder paint.
On this day, everyone is equal - caste differences and gender roles disappear as humans relish togetherness with friends and family alike! Although primarily celebrated in India & Nepal, other countries with significant Hindu populations also join in on these festivities for a joyous celebration.
On June 29th, 2012, Holi Festivals of Colour first came to Europe with a spectacular event in Berlin at the Postbahnhof. Despite free tickets sold, attendance was lower than expected due to some guests receiving incorrect information from organizers. Unfortunately, many attendees only got to experience a little of Holi's symbolism and customs during this inaugural festival.
In 2012, three additional Festivals Of Colour took place in Munich, Hannover, and Dresden. In 2013, the festival went beyond borders with its launch in Berlin on May 10th. This festival, spanning three continents and seven countries, emphasized Germany - boasting 14 cities and 15 events (Berlin hosted two events that year).
In 2023, The Festival Of Colours is returning to Stuttgart Tübingen, and you do not want to miss it! Get ready because, on September 2nd, 2023, thousands of people will unite to make the world more vibrant.
From national and international DJs spinning Electro, Minimal & House beats all day long to a "Big Throw" hourly show where rainbow hues soar through the sky - this event promises incredible memories that attendees won't soon forget!
