Come to the Inter-Varsity Folk Dance Festival (IVFDF) - one of the UK's longest-running folk festivals! Hosted annually by a rotating university folk society, IVFDF offers an unforgettable weekend with workshops, ceilidhs, and lively dancing. Every style is represented here, so you're bound to find something that speaks to your heart. But beyond just music, this festival has tons of activities for everyone in attendance, ensuring absolute boredom never arises during your stay.
The IVFDF began in 1951 at the University of Leeds, but Exeter University's Folk Society has long been hosting this unique event. Initially held in 1967, it was followed by 1989, 1995, 1999, 2004, 2009, and 2015; even when it wasn't part of the IVFDF schedule in 2002, Exeter hosted ICBINI ("I Can't Believe It's Not IVFDF"), a smaller celebration that continues to take place on an irregular basis.
IVFDF is a place where all individuals, regardless of their preference or gender identity, are warmly welcomed. No matter your level of expertise at dancing—whether you are just starting out or already an expert performer—IVFDF has something to offer to everyone who loves to let loose on the dance floor! As always, since its inception, IVFDF 2024 will have another exciting lineup that no one should miss.
