In 2010, Dortmund - Germany's cultural capital of the Ruhr area - introduced The Festival as a goodwill gesture. The festival not only has worldwide appeal but also emphasizes the distinctiveness of Dortmund's music scene. The enthusiasm for singing is almost unparalleled in Germany and is represented through approximately 300 choirs and vocal ensembles.
