Locus Festival has always striven to achieve a harmonious equilibrium between its proposals' caliber and widespread popularity.
Locus festival began in 2005 as a small, local event centered around the historic city of Locorotondo. Yet it quickly expanded to become an international occasion with an apparent global influence that has grown lovingly ever since. Each aspect of Locus - from its name, logo, and poster art to the local setting - is "glocal," emphasizing artistic expression while embracing tourism awareness regardless of geographical constraints or personal preferences.
Locus Festival has been home to music and art lovers for over a decade. Regular attendees know that the festival consistently provides something extraordinary. The festival hosted esteemed international artists such as Aloe Blacc, Fat Freddy's Drop, Luca Sapio, Raphael Gualazzi, Robert Glasper, and Laura Mvula before they achieved global fame. It's also brought Italian talent like Franco Battiato, Calcutta, Mahmood, Sergio Cammariere, and Nina Zilli into the limelight!
The Locus Festival featured not only the brightest up-and-coming stars like FKJ, Kings Of Convenience, Snarky Puppy, and Kamasi Washington but also iconic legends such as Gil Scott-Heron, Enrico Rava, and Mulatu Astatke. Furthermore, they've invited celebrated artists, including Ms. Lauryn Hill, David Byrne, Paolo Fresu, and Vinicio Capossela. Plus, renowned performers Cody Chesnutt, Stefano Bollani, and Gregory Porter, to name a few - all of whom graced the stage with their presence at this prestigious event!
Some world's renowned DJs, such as Rob Garza from Four Tet, Theo Parrish, and Thievery Corporation, have been captivated by creative avant-garde names like Colin Stetson, Mammal Hands, Nils Frahm, and Floating Points. They are just as impressed by modern artists Thundercat and The Bad Plus. Moreover, Nicola Conte and Gilles Peterson continue to be captivated by these evergreen vanguard experiments in music.
