Established in 1978, the London Handel Festival is irreplaceable in reviving interest in Handel's music. Through a combination of live and digital performances, this festival is dedicated to empowering young talent while providing educational opportunities. The renowned London Handel Festival (LHF) celebrates George Frederic Handel's life and work enthusiastically every year!
This festivity is the only association passionate about Handel's music and his illustrious life in 18th-century London, a city he so lovingly adopted as home. He was an immigrant with a unique story of inspiration - depression, blindness, English-as-second language yet supported vulnerable children through his role at The Foundling Hospital (now Coram). The mission of this festivity is to keep this incredible legacy alive by bringing joy, learning, and continued motivation to everyone who encounters it.
The acclaimed London Handel Orchestra is expertly led by Laurence Cummings, one of the world's premier conductors specializing in the works of Handel. Collaborating with renowned soloists throughout their Festival season, the orchestra performs lesser-known compositions rarely heard elsewhere. Adrian Butterfield serves as lead conductor for this esteemed ensemble. Furthermore, London Handel Festival collaborates closely with well-known groups such as La Nuova Musica, the English Concert, and Opera Settecento.
This year, London Handel Festival will further its growth with a stunning Festival in the Spring featuring esteemed international soloists, obscure repertoire pieces, an opera production debuting for the first time, and many more collaborations and commissions. This festival also hosts the renowned International Handel Singing Competition, which brings spectacular talent together. The festival also has a vast selection of performances at St George's Church, Hanover Square, the 'home' venue.
