Pukkelpop

Pukkelpop, a three-day alternative music festival that takes place every year from mid to late August, has been growing in popularity since 1985 and now draws an impressive 180,000 people annually. Featuring hundreds of music acts over the course of its runtime, Pukkelpop is Belgium's second-largest musical celebration.

The humble beginnings of Pukkelpop as a small-scale music event eventually blossomed into one of the most renowned outdoor festivals in Europe. With its storied past, boasting acts such as Pixies, Björk, and The Stone Roses to more contemporary artists like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Metallica, and The Prodigy, it is no wonder why Pukkelpop has achieved iconic status. After relocating a few times, the Pukkelpop music festival has now taken up residence in the quaint town of Hasselt, located 45 miles from Brussels. It is celebrated between two roads within the woods and expansive fields of Kiewit. Interestingly enough, "pimple" happens to be the Dutch interpretation for "pukkel", thus granting this unique event its whimsical name; Pimple Pop!
