After its launch in 1991 under the name Tanz- und Folkfest, Rudolstadt-Festival has become one of Germany's premier folk, roots, and world music festivals. Held every first weekend of July in Rudolstadt/Thuringia, this renowned event lasts from Thursday evening until Sunday night. In 2016, it adopted its current namesake after being known by a different title since its inception.
This festival combines artistry and festivities, lively dance floors, and intimate courtyard concerts, setting sail between timeless tradition and daring experimentation! From pure folk to global fusion, club culture to ethno-jazz - everyone will find something special here! Up to 25,000 people come daily for concerts, workshops, talks, and exhibitions or even participate in the presentation of Germany's World Music Prize RUTH. Even kids can have fun with this imaginative children's festivity.
Every year, the vibrant Rudolstadt Festival draws in music and dance enthusiasts worldwide, welcoming newcomers alongside established names in the roots, folk, and world music scenes. The Thuringian town's Heinepark is truly a sight to behold, with its two main stages surrounded by lush foliage that overlooks the Saale River. And atop it, Heidecksburg Castle offers concert-goers panoramic views of this summer paradise! With each event featuring a different country's style of music and dance, it's no wonder why this festival stands out for its unique atmosphere full of musical richness and contrasts!
