Every summer since 1920, the majestic Salzburg Festival has been held in Mozart's birthplace of Salzburg, Austria. Spanning six weeks from late July to August, this renowned event features a diverse collection of programs and performances, featuring classic pieces and new works by internationally acclaimed artists and unique programming for younger generations.
For over six weeks, the Salzburg Festival offers a wide variety of 179 performances at 15 venues. The opera repertoire showcases some of Mozart's and Verdi's most beloved pieces, such as Le Nozze di Figaro and Macbeth/Falstaff, respectively. Moreover, the drama section will let you experience Lessing's Nathan the Wise live on stage! In addition to that comes this year's Ouverture Spirituelle, which is centered around 'Lux Aeterna' with top-notch orchestras performing throughout its duration – an unmissable opportunity for classical music lovers!
An impressive list of classical music icons, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Mozarteum Orchestra, Christian Thielemann, and Riccardo Muti, among others, will grace an unforgettable 2023 concert series. The SWR Symphony Orchestra kicks off Orchester zu Gast with their performance, followed by Berlin Philharmonic and Boston Symphony Orchestra. Moreover, you can expect to experience a spiritual overture, Mozart matinees, song recitals, and chamber/church concerts this summer!
