For avid blues music fans, the Saskatoon Blues Society (SBS) is an ideal opportunity to foster and celebrate the genre. Members enjoy exclusive benefits such as discounted prices for SBS-sponsored events and access to participate in performances or workshops with fellow music enthusiasts. Every year, SBS hosts an awe-inspiring mid-winter blues festival to provide local musicians with additional performance opportunities and for listeners and players alike to interactively share their love of the blues. This event allows Saskatchewan's citizens to explore a plethora of diverse experiences within this genre.
In the autumn of 2000, B.C. Read and a few like-minded individuals convened at a local restaurant to discuss the possibility of establishing an event in Saskatoon — the Saskatoon Blues Festival — which would feature some of the same acts that Regina's "Mid-Winter Blues Festival" had been showcasing. Unanimous agreement was reached on this concept; however, it was unanimously concluded that forming a society should be done prior to proceeding further with these plans. Now, you can get your groove on and start dancing to some blues tunes! Everything is set for a fun night.
Shed your everyday stress and join the fun at the next edition of the Saskatoon Blues Festival! Revel in a multitude of blues flavors presented by some of international and Canada's most talented performers, as well as international artists. This electrifying event will open up an entirely new world for you to explore — one that is sure to inspire even more appreciation for this multifaceted music genre.
