Twice a year, the vibrant Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance comes alive for four unforgettable days in Pittsboro. This festival, Spanning 75 acres of a lush farmstead, is hosted by the nonprofit organization Shakori Hills Community Arts Center Inc (SHCAC). Join the fun as you celebrate music and dance!
Celebrating music, dance, art, and education in a family-friendly paradise is what you will find at the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance! This exciting collaboration between the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center (SHCAC) and the GrassRoots Festival Organization started in April 2003. Since then, it has become modeled after its larger Finger Lakes counterpart every summer. Whether you're a big fan of art or enjoy listening to great tunes, this unforgettable event has something for everyone!
The four-day festival is packed with entertainment, starting on Thursday afternoon and concluding Sunday night. With two big outdoor stages, a large covered dance tent, the Front Porch Stage for music workshops, a Cabaret Tent, and The Outpost geared towards teenagers – there's something for everyone! To fully experience it all, you can purchase 4-Day or single-day passes - primitive camping in your vehicle/RV is an additional option available at an extra cost.
Not only does the festival feature music, but there are also dance and music workshops. You can also browse a sustainability fair or participate in fun activities for kids. For food hunters, you'll love the local food trucks and artisans displaying their delectable concoctions.
As a bonus, admission is free for children aged 12 or below; 13-15-year-olds will also receive a special youth rate! While attendance is higher on Saturday, Friday and Sunday, Thursday night has been dubbed "locals" night - not forgetting that spring's edition of the event tends to be twice as large as its fall counterpart!
