Each year, Summerfolk draws many musicians and fans from around the world to Owen Sound's Kelso Beach Park on Georgian Bay. Established by brothers John and Tim Harrison in 1976, this nationally acclaimed folk music festival is celebrated for its spectacular musical performances and exquisite craftsmanship. Additionally, it was one of the founding members of Folk Music Ontario, formerly known as the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals. Don't miss out on spending August's third weekend at Summerfolk!
Summerfolk is a renowned festival that draws folk musicians from all corners of the globe, from Mongolia to Mozambique and Georgia Bay to the Georgia Strait. It's also well known for its unique combination of contemporary artists with traditional folk performers. From Chile to China, Summerfolk has something special in store for everyone!
From humble beginnings of audiences sitting on garbage bags in a muddy field in 1976, the festival has flourished into an event that sprawls over multiple days with seven musical stages and a bustling Artisan's Village. Thousands of attendees from all walks of life flock to this beloved gathering each year while hundreds of volunteers strive to ensure everyone is provided for throughout the weekend.
Summerfolk is hosting an exciting and diverse event on August 18th-20th, 2023, that will include music performances across two stages each day from Friday to Sunday. In addition to this, five workshop areas are open during the day on Saturday, featuring a wide range of activities, including children's games, open-mic sessions, demonstrations, circus workshops, and more! Not only that, but throughout the weekend, you'll also find wonderful items at the vendor market.
