The Kimito Island Music Festival (Kimitoöns Musikfestspel, or Kemiönsaaren Musiikkijuhlat) is an annual event that enriches and invigorates the island's culture with a spectacular display of chamber music every mid-July. Local talent and acclaimed artists from abroad take to the stage, delighting audiences with an exquisite program that spans all genres - classical to contemporary.
Pianist Martti Rautio and violinist Katinka Korkeala established the Kimito Island Music Festival in 1999, featuring yearly premieres of compositions written by Finnish composers specifically for this event. Through the years, Aulis Sallinen, Kalevi Aho, Jouni Kaipainen, and Einojuhani Rautavaara have all been featured on this unique platform!
This year, everyone from near and far is welcomed to The Kimito Island Music Festival from July 10th–16th, 2023! Sonja Korkeala, Katinka Korkeala, Alfredo Perl, Anna-Liisa Bezrodny, Roland Glassl, and Jan-Erik Gustafsson are just a few of the many fantastic performers that will be taking part in this festival with Jyväskylä Sinfonia as well!
