Tønder Festival

The renowned Tønder Festival is a must-attend annual folk music event held in the heart of Denmark during the last weekend of August. With its beginnings stemming from 1974 and its first occurrence taking place in 1975, this European festival has become one of the most sought-after for traditional and modern folk music lovers alike. Boasting an expansive area with room for up to 15,000 attendees, no other experience can quite compare!

The program features a diverse array of international artists from Ireland, Scotland, Canada, the United States, England, and Scandinavia. Music genres range from traditional Irish and Scottish folk music to Nordic Folk Music to Americana Country and World Music. During the festival, all areas of town are flooded with music as both the most renowned and pioneering names and talent take over streets and squares alike. Audience members become part of an engaging musical community that celebrates cultural exchange in its fullest sense!

On August 24th-27th, Tønder Festival 2023 will host an impressive lineup of renowned and upcoming musicians. This year's roster is incredible, with acts such as award-winning sisters The Unthanks, country songwriter Lawrence Maxwell, Denmark's finest songwriters Allan Olsen, Adyn Townes, Niteworks, Buffalo Nichols, and many more!
