Since its inception in 1966, Visfestivalen i Västervik has been one of Sweden's oldest music festivals. Every year since then, the event has been held at Stegeholm Castle Ruins on Slottsholmen Island in Västervik, typically taking place Thursday through Saturday during week 28. Whether you're a rock, pop, or classical music fan, there's something for everyone to enjoy!
For decades, some of Sweden's finest musicians have graced the stage of Visfestivalen i Västervik at Stegeholm Castle Ruin. In particular, during the 70s, Cornelis Vreeswijk and Fred Åkerström played there almost every summer. For a special treat one year, Hansi Schwarz--a former member of Hootenanny Singers himself--invited his old friends from ABBA to come down and wow the audience with their musical talents.
Countless celebrated musicians have performed on the stage, from Elvis Costello to Petter (the Swedish hip-hop legend). From Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson of Roxette to Alice Babs, Lill-Babs, Weeping Willows, and Lasse Winnerbäck & Lasse Berghagen - no shortage of exceptional talent has graced this festival with their presence!
Please mark your calendar for the upcoming edition of Visfestivalen i Västervik! This year promises to be bigger, better, and even more spectacular than ever before. With many entertainment options that will suit everyone's tastes, you'll surely want to experience this exciting event for yourself. Don't hesitate to enjoy the fun and prepare for an unforgettable adventure!
