It was on 1 August 2019 that the global music festival Afro Nation—also known as Afro Nation Puerto Rico, U.S., Ghana, or Mexico—was born by its founders Obi Asika and SMADE. It started as a four-day celebration in Portimão, Portugal, until 17 July 2020, when it changed to a three-day event instead. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this edition has been postponed till 1 July 2022.
On 13 December 2019, Afro Nation launched their mixtape compilation curated by MOVES Recordings and fittingly named -Afro Nation Vol. 1-. Including a variety of remarkable collaborative efforts from SMADE, Ice Prince, Slim Kofi, Lighter Tod, Joey B, Kuami Eugene, Medikal, Eddie Kadi, Bisa Kdei, Adekunle Gold Oxlade," Reekado Banks," Eugy," Br3nya " and Terry Apala; this album is undoubtedly an impressive display of talent!
